I just recently got a few records, and I was trying to find out how old they are, but I can’t find a date on the record or the cover. Is there a specific thing I could look for that would tell me how old it is?
Wierd, All of mine have a copyright date on the back cover, many also have it on the record itself…maybe you could just look up the discography of each band.

180 g is supposed to be the highest quality vinyl. Well a 45rpm 180g technically. Also, they’re thicker so they’re less prone to warp over time.

I think records came out in the 40’s but in the 70’s and 80’s I paid around $10.00 for them. Once in a while you could get them on sale for $5.00 or $2.00.

CDs and DVDs will be relics in the not so ditant future because of digital recordings. I’d be happy if I could figure out putting mp3s on my PDA. I have an mp3 player, but it’s become a real challenge to figure out the audio feature on my PDA.
My family and I were going through my late grandfather’s garage and came across 8 huge boxes of vinyl records. We are going to attempt to sell them in our garage sale, if we can’t find any place to sell them. Anyone know of a place (IN MICHIGAN) that buys old vinyl records?
i suggest looking up information on how much they’re worth, either through the internet or through an antique shop, pawn shops will almost always try to cheat you out of money. then you can sell them for the price or a little less. however, you’ll need to either sell them to someone that buys antiques and collectibles in your area, or try selling them on ebay. even if you know how much they’re worth, a pawn shop usually won’t give you much money for them. you can also place an ad in your local paper. i wouldn’t sell them at a garage sale unless nothing else works because unless it’s a sale that is just collectibles, it won’t make much money because most people look for things that are cheap.
How much would a Led Zeppelin IV vinyl, In Through the Out Door, Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon, never been opened be worth?
Not has much as you’d think. It would have to be something very old or rare. 45’s from the 50’s are worth more than albums from the 70’s.
What home recording systems did they have in the 1960s for recording vinyl records? How did they record Vinyl records at home? Was this a common?
actually most people didn’t do much in the way of home recording. If we needed to record something it was on reel to reel tape. You had to go into a professional recording studio to have a record recorded.

I found some old vinyl records in my closet and was wondering how much each is worth and I’m talking about the records that are the big ones where you can flip it over for another song and they go on the spinning record player (old times) lol but the records are: elvis’ volume 3 of his golden records 1963, quiet riot mental health 1972, journey frontiers 1983, styx the grand illusion 1977, heart band animals 1987, zz top eliminator 1983, and def leppard pyromania 1983
I would suggest taking a look on eBay to get a rough estimate of the value of your vinyl. old record stores will try to get them from you for nothing. Also, check out craigs list for your location, a collector may be just looking for what you have. good luck.
Does anyone know where I can find vinyl records to use for decorating my room? They don’t have to work, all I want is to stick them on my wall. Any websites or shops, in the UK?

You should look in your local yellow pages for stores in your area. I have found one website (amongst many), that have degrees of condition. ‘Poor’ and ‘Bad’ are really cheap. Might be worth emailing them to see what they have.
