What can I do with lots of choral religous vinyl records?

Author: admin  //  Category: new vinyl records

I belong to a choral group who produced a liturgical choral service at the beginning of the CD era. The CD’s sold like hotcakes but the LP records did not. Now we, the choir, have hundreds of vinyl records that is taking up space. Other than using them for skeet shooting, does anyone have an idea what can be done with them? Is there a company that buys them for any reason, or recycles them?

Thanks

You can recycle them into neat plant containers. Balance an LP on top of an upturned flowerpot in a cool oven. Watch until the LP softens and remove before it melts, drips or starts smoking!

All I could find was this one:

Where can i buy Vinyl Records in Stores?

Author: admin  //  Category: buy vinyl records

I just got a turntable and a mixer, and i was wondering if anyone knew where i can buy vinyl records in stores. I want to buy a scratch record and a control vinyl (timecoded vinyl) Some people said that i should check my local DJ store, but the problem is that i dont have a local DJ store. Can someone tell me where i can get this stuff in stores. Oh and if you know of any DJ stores in virginia, that would be great. I live in VA and i tired checking local music stores but they only had instruments.

Thanks!

Now for vinyl recrods such as old stuff and rock, thirft stores.

For new, DJ records, and new releases, you need to find a store that sells vinyl. Now i don’t know any in Virginia. There are very few of these stores around today.

You can also try online websites that sell vinyl and timecoded vinyl:

Vinyl Records?

Author: admin  //  Category: vinyl records

Ive been looking long and hard for furniture that i can use to store vinyl records.
I would like to give my dad for fathers day something to do with his passion for vinyl records and music.
something maybe a little bit more modern.
he has them all in this brown dresser looking thing that is so 70-80’s looking

he has more then 1000 records which a problem also i don’t plan on spending thousands of dollars but maybe get some websites where i can buy furniture anything to do with vinyl record keeping.

Thanks

Well, you do not need anything special for keeping records. All they need is to be stood up, vertically. So, I suggest "cube" shelves. These are stacking boxes. Get the ones with dividers and stack ‘em up. The dividers should be about 4"-6" apart to limit how far the albums can lay over. Places like Ikea, Cost Plus and others have relatively cheap units. I have a wall unit with adjustable shelves and dividers that I had custom made by a cabinet maker which cost me $400 plus some elbow grease because I did the wood finish myself. I just lacked the carpentry skills to do the fabrication.

What hardware and software should I use to convert my old vinyl records to mp3?

Author: admin  //  Category: old vinyl records

i used an rca jack from the amp to the audio in jacks on the tower, i have also used a "USB Dazzle 80" the software that i used was MusicMatch Jukebox 8.1. worked good, i also used EZ CD Creator’s music ripping program. worked slick using the above combinations. good luck. I used the above programs because i had them and didn’t desire to spend MORE money.

Why would some of xtreme music collectors and fans buy vinyl records instead of Cds??

Author: admin  //  Category: buy vinyl records

I’ve been wondering why??

All the music fans and who’s aware of collecting most of the music they like buy records not cds??

Presumably, because well made (and well cared for) vinyl has much better sound quality, deeper, richer, warmer, fuller, rounder, more luxurious sound than early digital recordings. Don’t know if it’s still true with remasters. Check out the digital v. analog debate on any audiophile site.

Middle aged people who grew up with vinyl records: Would you like this gift or not?

Author: admin  //  Category: vinyl records

My parents each have a vinyl record that they especially like to play at christmas from their own childhood. Because they are very old records, the sound quality is pretty bad and getting worse.

I always thought about getting them CD versions so that the sound quality would be better.

So I’m appealing to people in that general age group (around 50): assuming I could find these albums, would this be a gift that you would appreciate? Or would it not be the same if it wasn’t a record?

Hi Sarah,

I am in that age category and would really appreciate a gift like that. Everything from The Beatles and Rolling stone s to the Blues Magoo’s can be found out here on CD now. This includes Christmas albums,
Amazon is your best bet.

Hey, that said an audio electronics expert demonstrated to me that the fidelity of LP’s still beats CD’s!

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

PS – There is a new turntable on the market which you can plug into your computer and change your old LP’s to CD’s, I saw it in London Drugs in Canada and might be really pratical for LP’s in good condition.

Cheers,
