Vinyl Records are Back!

there are are literally 0 record or cd stores in my city, or near my city.
do you know any department or book stores that sell vinyl records NEW, not used. i want new ones so i can support bands i like, half price books only sells used ones.

i dont buy anything online, so it cant be a website, only actual stores.
i live more than 2,000 miles from so cal.

the nearest fye to where i live is over 100 miles away.

Some FYEs sell used and new records. I’ve found new records at places like Barnes and Noble and Borders before, but they only have a few.

Got a cheap ion usb deck, which is ok but it’s falling apart. And I’d like to get a new vinyl record player. What are some good ones to go for that aren’t super expensive but aren’t cheap and nasty

The cheapest basic, good quality turntable you can buy is the Pro-Ject Essential, which usually retails for about £150.

There are currently more than 70 different models of turntable available in the U.K (excluding D.J. decks), so I don’t know why anyone would consider them "hard to find…"

I have a vintage record player from the 60’s. I replace the needle a few day ago and it was working fine. My vintage records like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc…work fine. I bought and BRAND NEW Metallica album and it skips every few seconds as well as a BRAND NEW Deftones album. Is there something that is different about the new records??? Or is it just because the record player is old?

older lps are worn, the grooves are deeper, newer ones are not. if the tracking is off on the player, it will skip pretty easily. you may need to adjust this if you can/know how…

Does anyone know the name of Jack White’s new vinyl record.
I’m not sure if it’s The Raconteurs, The White Stripes or Dead Weather but…
it was sold at a concert my son’s friend went to.
It breaks/peels apart and turns into a 45.

I know some record players can convert Vinyl to MP3, but mine does not. Is there any other way to convert records to MP3?

it depends on the connections of you record player. you would probably need to take the output of the record player and record that into some software on your computer, then convert it to MP3 from there.

180 g is supposed to be the highest quality vinyl. Well a 45rpm 180g technically. Also, they’re thicker so they’re less prone to warp over time.

CDs and DVDs will be relics in the not so ditant future because of digital recordings. I’d be happy if I could figure out putting mp3s on my PDA. I have an mp3 player, but it’s become a real challenge to figure out the audio feature on my PDA.

yes you can… amazon.com has a pretty good collection of music from today. I just ordered jack johnson, paramore, and dashboard confessional on vinyl.
