Where can I go online to find the value of old vinyl records?

Author: admin  //  Category: old vinyl records

I have boxes I want to get rid of but I dont know what there worth?

I had approximately 800 vinyl records, most of which were never redone as CDs – and they were of wonderful operatic, symphonic, and chamber works. I ended up giving most away – I still have about 300 in the basement – because dealers wanted to buy them for a dollar a linear foot. When people tell you that you can donate them to library, and take the tax write-ff – that does not work either. Give them away – see if Salvation Army will take them off your hands. Put an ad in Craigslist and be thankful when they are GONE. They are worth nothing – unless you have never-opened Beatles, etc.

Not very many collectors will give out that information. Not because they’re mean, but if they did, they’d be answering thousands of emails just like yours. Your best option is to do the research yourself by buying guide books, searching on ebay, etc. But in general, most records made after the 1970’s were mass produced and are not worth very much. There are exceptions of course. Finally, condition is very important to a collector.
