I am 32 years old. I have worked in several record stores for the past 12 years. Most of my collection comes from Beatnick records (Montreal, Canada) where i worked for 3 years. I would say that i have not seen double copies for 50% of my collection during the years i worked for Beatnick. Except, of course, for new reissues. I started listening to Jazz on Blue Note while i was working in a record store in Paris. I always suggested my customers that wanted to get into jazz to start with Art Blakey’s “Moanin”. It was the album that got me into Blue Note. I love the sound, i love the artwork, i love the music, i love the stories. I paid around 20$-30$ for most Blue Note/Liberty pressings and 15$ for re-issues. Some originals were over 50$. Now i’m stuck with buying every single Blue Note i don’t own because of collector syndrom. DOH ! Expensive hobby ! By the way, you are listening to Sonny Clark’s Cool Struttin album.
